Why support Out of Joint?
Out of Joint makes extraordinary plays for audiences across the country.
Whilst we are partly funded by the Arts Council of England, we rely on donations to continue our work in taking quality productions across the UK.
Out of Joint is a touring theatre company.
Everyone who works at Out of Joint remembers loving our local theatre growing up, and the distinct personality of the work that was made there. But we also all remember something else – a particular touring production that came to our hometown and opened up a whole new world to us.
Out of Joint makes shows that unite us in a national community.
Touring work must celebrate what we have in common rather than what divides us. In these polarised times, our productions encourage empathy and curiosity, no matter where you live or how you vote.
Out of Joint breaks down barriers.
As a national company, our productions and the people who make them are representative of contemporary Britain. We go the extra mile to recruit people from all backgrounds, and this diversity enriches our work.
Out of Joint makes shows that expand horizons.
We offer workshops and digital packs explaining our theatre-making to young people around the country and meet audiences at every venue through director and actor talkbacks. We also fund accessible performances on our tours so that as many people as possible can access our work.
Out of Joint makes the classics of the future.
Our commitment to creating brand new projects for big stages has always been at the heart of the company. We commission and develop bold new work with a wide range of artists, delighting and surprising our audience with stories that help us all to understand who we are.
Out of Joint is a registered charity.
With your generous support, we can continue to create and tour our work, make it accessible, introduce theatre to young people and bring together audiences across the UK.
Here are some examples of what your donation could mean:
- £18 covers the costs for a participant to attend a playwrighting workshop.
- £250 covers the cost of hiring space to host Open Auditions for one of our productions.
- £600 makes one of our performances accessible with captioning, audio description or a touch tour.
- £750 pays a writer for two weeks to attend rehearsals of their play.
- £1,935 could transport a set from one tour venue to the next across the UK.
- £8,400 could commission a new play.
