In the last few months, a number of teachers have told us that money for theatre trips and workshops is becoming hard to find – far more than we’ve encountered before.
The theatres we perform at all offer ticket discounts to schools, and our workshops prices have barely risen: from £120 in 1994 to just £150 today. However we wondered if we could help in other ways, and to this end we are raising money for a special travel fund to help with the costs of your students’ trips.
Groups who book both a performance and a workshop will be eligible to apply for money from the fund to cover 50% of their travel expenses. How will it work? At the time of booking, get in touch with our Education Manager, Isabel, with an estimate of your travel costs. On a first come first serve basis we will reserve money from the fund to cover half your costs. There is currently £1,000 available, and we will endeavour to raise more funds so that as many students across the UK can benefit from the scheme.
For more information on this, do get in touch with Isabel on [email protected] or on 020 7609 0207.
Help us support young people’s access to theatre
Most of us who enjoy theatre were lucky enough to have our imaginations caught while we were still at school; for many, those first “grown-up” productions we saw remain as special memories. Our travel fund is a way of enabling young people to see our productions, by lessening one of the obstacles that stands in the way for schools: the cost of getting there.
Donate to the fund, and your money will go directly to subsidising young people’s access to productions and workshops.
